Practice gives you another six connections without changing your saved daily mission. It is a good place to learn how the category words settle and how quickly 30 seconds passes.
The same rules, a different selection
Each round still gives you two clues and asks for an answer that belongs to both. You can edit a wrong guess while the timer runs. An accepted answer earns its assigned distance and sends the rocket to its destination. Skip or a timeout contributes no boost.
The practice selection comes from 155 category wheels. A wheel can contain several possible categories, and the game chooses one for a connection. This is a finite pool, so you may see a category again. Repetition can be useful when you want to try a different answer or practise a slower kind of clue.
Your daily result stays separate
Practice does not replace today's completed result, add to your daily streak or submit a score to today's community chart. You can play it before or after the daily mission.
At the end, you see your practice distance and flight path. Starting another practice flight creates another selection. Browser settings and your daily saved results continue to work as usual.
Give yourself a small experiment
On one practice flight, try naming the kind of thing each clue allows before you search for an answer. On another, keep the first sensible answer in mind while you look for a less-obvious possibility. The two-clue strategy guide explains both approaches.
You can also read about words that fit two categories. Its examples are teaching examples, not a list of accepted answers from a mission.
